A New Vision

Recently I received disheartening news that Discipleship Resources (the publisher of my book, “Reconnecting Time: Planning Church Family Camps,”) “will be evolving, and the new publishing vision of the General Board of Discipleship remains inexact at this time, although they will continue to resource the church.”

In short, this means that because of the bad 2008-09 economic times, Discipleship Resources will not continue to publish/reprint books such as the one I have written. So, it appears that there will be a short time remaining to actually purchase this book through Discipleship Resources, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, or any other places that have sold it. If you know of anyone, or any group, who could use this resource, now is the time to order it!

This blog is written with a bit of sadness in my heart because the reality is that any of the remaining copies that are still in their inventory by year’s end are to be purged—that means shredded/destroyed! I was offered the opportunity to have the publishing rights reverted to me, which I have requested by letter. Not sure now what that will mean for me in the future, if anything, but I have requested those publishing rights.

I’ll have to admit that it “feels like” a door is closing on my hopes and dreams that this resource can be a valuable ministry tool to folks for years to come. But, I also know that God has a way of “opening windows” in unexpected places. And, the good news is, this resource has already gotten into the hands of several hundred people already! For that I am grateful! So, for now I’ll continue to pray that I will have eyes to see whatever “new vision” or “new window” that God may open up next!
